| Swallowdale Camp is located on the shores of
Fairy Lake, a small but ideal lake for campers to learn
and improve skills for water-based sports. Qualified
instruction is offered to campers of all levels of
ability, from beginner to advanced. Safety precautions
are always the first priority while campers are on the
lake. Wearing a PFD (personal floatation device) is
mandatory when using any equipment on the
water. |

| CANOEING |
|
| J-stroke, C-stroke , or Draw? Learn the
differences between these types of canoe strokes
and glide effortlessly across Fairy Lake at
Swallowdale Camp. Campers learn basic parts
of the canoe and paddle, basic strokes and
usage, boarding and debarking, as well as maneuvering
successfully, safety and rescue procedures. |

| FISHING |
|
| Whether
you take fishing seriously or you do it as
a leisure activity, there's nothing like feeling
a tug on the end of your line! Campers at
Swallowdale Camp are given the opportunity
to experience the exhilaration of reeling
in the "big one". Fishing is taught with professional
rods, reels, and lures. Campers are advised
of safety precautions, proper casting methods,
hook removal, and baiting. |

| KAYAKING |
|
|
Become one with the water and learn to
kayak at Swallowdale Camp. From paddling and
balancing to Eskimo rolls, campers learn a
multitude of techniques from our qualified
instructors, in a safe and controlled environment. |

| SAILING |
|
|
At Swallowdale, we use Laser Pico sailboats,
which are easy to sail for campers of all
abilities and age. With only 1 - 3 campers
per boat, Swallowdale campers gain more hands-on
experience and learn at a better and faster
rate. Younger campers enjoy sailing along with our staff or experienced older
campers. According on their level, participants
learn to launch and land from a dock, proper
tacking and gibing, correct body positions,
how to read the wind and the names of the
different sail positions. |

| SWIMMING |
|
| On
a daily basis, all campers are invited to
participate in a variety of swimming activities,
including water polo, flutterboard races,
and water aerobics. Qualified lifeguards
ensure that safety is always a priority.
At the same time, staff are dedicated to
developing confidence among campers, while
promoting an appreciation for water.

| WINDSURFING/WINDSAILING |
|
Catch the right wind and you are on your
way to a successful day of windsurfing! What
a rush as you breeze by others, controlling
your own destination! Swallowdale provides
a variety of boards and sails for our campers.
On-land simulations assist in instruction.
Campers learn how to set up the board and
sail, proper stance, reading wind direction,
as well as tacking
and sailing techniques for going up and down
wind. Qualified and experienced instructors
guide campers from both the docks and from the lake.
